What is the difference between AMOLED, LCD, OLED screens?

From:www.eurotech-lcd.com    Date:2024-05-14

The difference between AMOLED, LCD and OLED screens is mainly reflected in the following aspects:

The principle of light:

The OLED (organic light -emitting diode) screen uses self -luminous materials, which does not require special light sources, and its thickness is relatively thin.

AMOLED (active matrix organic light diode panel) is a type of OLED technology. It has the "active matrix" structure and contains a thin film transistor (TFT) as a pixel driver, thereby achieving independent pixel control.

The LCD (LCD display) screen does not have a self -luminous function. It needs to be added with backlight sources to control the light and display color, so it is relatively thick.

Screen display quality:

The display of AMOLED and OLED screens is high, with bright colors and excellent display effects. AMOLED can achieve more accurate brightness and color control on the pixel level, providing more vivid and realistic image quality.

The LCD screen has the characteristics of high brightness, high contrast, high color saturation, etc., which show clear, large visual area, large color and bright color.

Power consumption:

OLED and AMOLED screens are from self -emitting. When there are black objects in the image, this part of the screen does not emit light, so the power consumption is small.

No matter what color is displayed in the LCD screen, the backlight is required, so the power consumption is relatively large.

Cost:

OLED and AMOLED screens are new technologies and new products, and the manufacturing costs are relatively high, especially AMOLED, because its manufacturing process requires more complicated technology and equipment.

The LCD screen technology is mature and the cost is relatively low.

Other features:

AMOLED and OLED screens have a broad perspective, better seismic performance, and can be made into flexible screens.

LCD screens have natural observation disorders at some angles because they need to block light to work. However, the brightness of the LCD screen is uniform, the quality is high, and it will never flash.

In summary, AMOLED, LCD, and OLED screens have their own characteristics and advantages and disadvantages. When choosing, we need to weigh according to specific needs and application scenarios. For example, if you pursue high contrast, bright colors and low power consumption, you can choose the AMOLED or OLED screen; if you pay attention to cost, display effect and perspective, the LCD screen is also a good choice.
