3D Printer Display Features

1. Determine the Display Type

3D printer displays come in different types, each with pros and cons:

A. Standard 12864 LCD (Non-Touch, Rotary Knob Control)

 Pros:

· Affordable, reliable, and widely compatible.

· Works with most Marlin firmware-based 3D printers.

· No touchscreen issues in harsh environments.

 Cons:

· Slower navigation due to rotary knob control.

· Limited graphics and small screen.

 Best for: Budget 3D printers (e.g., Creality Ender 3, Prusa i3).

B. TFT LCD Touchscreen (3.5” - 7”)

 Pros:

· Faster and more intuitive UI (tap-based).

· Supports color graphics & G-code preview.

· Can run dual-mode (touch & knob control) for Marlin printers.

 Cons:

· More expensive than basic LCDs.

· Some firmware compatibility issues.

C. IPS LCD (High-Resolution Touchscreen, 5”-10”)

 Pros:

 Cons:

· Requires additional hardware (like Raspberry Pi for Klipper).

· Expensive and may require custom firmware setup.

 Best for: Professional & industrial 3D printers or Klipper users.
 Popular Models: Duet3D PanelDue 7”, Raspberry Pi Touchscreen (OctoScreen).

2. Check Compatibility with Your 3D Printer

· Marlin Firmware: Works with 12864 LCDs, TFT35, and some touchscreens.

· Klipper & OctoPrint: Requires a touchscreen with Raspberry Pi support.

· RepRapFirmware (RRF): Compatible with Duet3D PanelDue displays.

· Custom Firmwares: Check if the display supports UART, SPI, or I2C interfaces for communication.

3D Printer Display Custom LCD Solutions for Diverse Applications

Brightness from 0-3000 for perfect display effect achievement. 100% NTSC makes the vividness of the picture better and the color transition in the picture more natural.

Color Temperature is positive white at around 5500K, warm white (yellowish) at 3500K and also cool white (cold) at 6500K.

Driver circuit with sufficient voltage and current values to meet output requirements and reduce the secondary development cycle. Heat dissipation for high-brightness products to advance design of reasonable heat dissipation structure.

Power consumption, we increase the brightness without increasing the power consumption.

Cables, Backlighting also requires cables, either through an FPC connected to the LCD's FPC and controlled through a port, or a separate cable that controls it through a connector.

LED life reached the standard of 30K hours Min. 50K, 70K, 100K hours are all achievable.
