IPS vs TFT LCD Displays
TFT (Thin Film Transistor) LCD is a type of LCD that uses thin-film transistor technology to improve image quality. However, it's often used to refer to the basic LCD display type — which can include various subtypes like IPS.
IPS (In-Plane Switching) is a type of TFT LCD — a more advanced one.
IPS vs "Standard" TFT (often TN - Twisted Nematic):
| Feature | IPS | Standard TFT (usually TN) |
| Color Accuracy | Excellent |
  Average |
| Viewing Angles | Wide (up to 178°) | Narrow (colors shift off-angle) |
| Brightness/Contrast | Usually better | Lower contrast in many cases |
| Response Time | | Slightly slower (but modern IPS is fast) |
 | Usually faster (good for gaming) |
| Price | Higher | Cheaper  |
| Power Consumption | Slightly more | Slightly less |
When to Choose:
Go with IPS if you care about color quality, photo editing, watching videos, or want great viewing angles.
Standard TFT (TN) can be okay if you're on a tight budget or need fast response times for gaming.

So, IPS is generally better, unless you have a specific use case where TN is preferred.
